The speed at which social media moves can be overwhelming, but it’s increasingly important to monitor what’s being said about your brand in real time across various platforms. It’s also a great opportunity to find positive user-generated content about your event or conference that you can leverage to attract new followers and attendees.
To keep up, Wharton’s Social Media Team uses a product called Tagboard that allows us to watch real-time conversations across popular social media networks, curate the best content, and share these posts with our community. We do that by repurposing individual posts on our feeds, embedding tagboards on our websites, and projecting curated feeds on large screens and monitors at events using Tagboard’s Live display option.
How does it work?
Each Tagboard is associated with a specific hashtag. For example, if we associate a Tagboard with #Wharton, we’d be able to watch in real time as posts with #Wharton roll in from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and elsewhere.
The Tagboard interface compiles all social media posts containing that hashtag into a preview, and allows you to select which content you want to publicly feature. You can also manually add content that doesn’t include this specific hashtag by entering the URL of any social media post.
What’s in it for me?
The Live Display feature makes Tagboard a great option for Wharton conferences and events. Prominently displaying your event’s social media coverage lends the impression that your event’s a hit (and, of course, it really is) and helps generate buzz by incentivizing social media coverage. Tagboard has more handy features — like custom branding and expanded layout options — that can help make your event memorable. Check them out on Tagboard’s website.
Tagboard has already been used at a number of Wharton conferences, including Wharton Alumni Relations for the Global Forum in Bangkok; the Wharton Social Impact Conference; and the MBA Program Office for the Class of 2017 Convocation event, a recording of which you can view below.
